"Sweep The Streets"
"Sweep The Streets" is a small game that attempts to illustrate the precarity of homelessness in the face of street sweeps conducted by police and city officials and the human cost inflicted on those caught in the process.
Research
The research behind this game was done primarily using episodes from Our Town Reno's Podcast which include accounts from people living in Reno's homeless encampments. The podcast can be found here
Episodes:
- "Two Women in Tent City Share Their Experience"
- "Kelly, Trying to Avoid Police and More Sweeps of Her Tent"
- "Darius, Struggling with Day Jobs without an ID"
- "Moriah, a Young Woman Getting Uprooted by Police in Encampments"
Also used in research were several articles concerning the street sweeps in Reno:
